About PSMC
The PSMC is a unique and flexible program which is the result of collaboration between Risk Control Academy (RCA) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) to advance professionalism and appropriate qualifications in the security industry. The program leads to certification as a Professional Security Manager.

Nature and Scope of the Program
The Professional Security Management Certification is the outcome of extensive research involving consultation with employers and subject matter experts, who evaluated the skills which security professionals need in today’s world in order to effectively protect the valued assets of individuals, government and businesses. The results indicate that individuals with both function specific and generic set of skills are able to identify, potential risks, plan and implement protective measures that are more relevant to help businesses thrive and support the operations of organizations and governments.
Against this background, Risk Control Academy and YABATECH designed this program to provide the core skills needed by security professionals to effectively supervise or manage the security function in an organization or company.
The Program affords learners to move at their own pace and structured into 10 Modules. For every Module completed, trainees receive certificate of completion and will obtain the associated number of credits for that module which will move them closer to Certification as a Professional Security Manager. All modules must be completed successfully before a candidate can qualify to write the certification exam.

Learning Outcomes :
On successful completion of the program, trainees should be able to;
- Demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of what security is and the various risks facing an organization.
- Develop, and apply knowledge of management principles to protect assets of an organization.
- Be able to read blueprint and floor plan
- Competently carry out risk assessment.
- Demonstrate understanding of the key components of Anti – Money laundering program and connection with terrorism, transnational and organized crime.
- Skillfully apply electronic and cyber security knowledge to operate and manage electronic security devices and systems.
- Promote health and safety in the society.
- Intelligently apply reasonable knowledge of emergency planning and business continuity in the day-to-day discharge of security duties.
- Demonstrate understanding of how to recruit, motivate and manage guards and security guard companies.
- Be able to apply effective office skills necessary in the workplace.

Eligibility :
The Entry Requirement into the Professional Security Management Certification include any of the following:
- Candidates who have successfully completed Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with credit passes in five subjects including English Language.
- Unemployed and/or under employed graduates of tertiary institutions seeking employable skills in the security industry.
- Experienced security professionals who desire promotion with relevant additional skills in security.
