In this modern era where electronic security has gained prominence in protecting assets, and where most security-related tasks are being performed electronically with more ease and high efficiency, an overview of basic principles of electronics is crucial where students learn how electricity is produced, types of electricity, and important information about electrical circuits. They will be taught about the basic formulas that are used in the electronics field to figure the relationship between, power, voltage, resistance, and current. By the end of the course, students will have a good understanding of the principles behind electronic security systems and the technologies that power them.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn how electricity is produced and the job of conductors and insulators
  • demonstrate an understanding of resistance and the impact of resistors in an electrical circuit
  • Learn about Ohms law and Watts law
  • Learn the basic formulas to figure the relationship between power, voltage, resistance, and current

  • Apply volt-ohm meter basics
  • Provide the knowledge needed for the student to properly plan and implement power and electricity to every component in the electronic security system
